Grandstand Infield (Baseball)
- Grandstand Infield seating is an inexpensive way to catch a Yankees game. In fact, the grandstand seats behind home plate (Sections 419-421) are one of only two seating areas where you can get a home plate view without paying for club seats. These are highly recommended for fans who want a view of the entire field without spending Suite-level prices. For shade, opt for seats on the third base side (e.g.: 423-426) or in the upper half (rows 8 and up). The roof covers the upper two-thirds of these sections and the seats listed above will be shaded first. Fans have complained about the plexiglass obstructing views in Rows 1 and 2. The safety glass is there so fans walking down the stairs don't tumble over the railing. If you think this would be a distraction, you might want to avoid the first two rows.
Grandstand Seating
(2026 Review) -
Upper Deck Seating: All 400 Level sections.
Most Affordable Reserved Seats: Typically the cheapest option outside Standing Room Only.
Staircase Access Only: No elevator or ramp entry to sections.
Top Rows Covered: Upper rows protected by the roof.
Strong Shade Behind Home Plate: Best sun protection in this level.
Who Should Sit Here
Grandstand Seating at Yankee Stadium is best for budget-conscious fans who want a reserved seat and a full-field perspective. While these are the farthest seats from the field, they offer a traditional upper-deck baseball experience at one of the lowest price points in the stadium.
Grandstand Level Location & Details
Grandstand Seating includes all 400-level sections and makes up the uppermost deck at Yankee Stadium.
These sections are accessed by staircase only. Fans must climb stairs to reach the section entrance and then additional steps to reach higher rows. Because of this layout, guests with mobility concerns should consider sitting in the lowest available row or exploring other seating levels.
The 400 Level shares a concourse with the 300 Level Terrace sections, but Grandstand seats sit higher and farther from the field.
Views from the Grandstand Level
From the 400 Level, fans get a high, panoramic view of the entire ballpark.
Behind home plate, the elevation provides a clear look at defensive positioning and pitch location, along with full visibility of the center-field videoboards. Outfield sections provide a more distant, straight-on view of home run balls but less detail on infield play.
While these seats are farthest from the field, many fans enjoy the traditional upper-deck baseball vantage point and the cheaper price tag that comes along with it.
Where to Sit on the Grandstand Level
There are three primary considerations when choosing Grandstand seats:
1. Best Overall View: Seats behind home plate offer the most comfortable full-field perspective. From here, you can see the entire diamond and both videoboards without obstruction.
2. Mobility Considerations: Because these sections require stair access, fans with mobility concerns should choose the lowest row possible or consider other seating levels.
3. Shade & Coverage: The top rows of the Grandstand are covered by the stadium roof. Additionally, sections behind home plate tend to receive the most shade, making them a strong option during hot afternoon games.
