Looking at the west side of Bryant-Denny Stadium from the U1 Level
Only about 15% of all seats at Bryant-Denny Stadium offer some type of shade or cover. Below is a sample of seats that are at least partially covered or shaded at different times of the day. To search for tickets or to find out if your seats are protected from the sun or rain, follow the link for the seat finder.
Corner sections in the lower level are comprised entirely of bleacher style bench seating, but get a great view of the action from a spot very close to the field.
With the positioning in the corner, these sections are best for viewing scoring plays in the near endzone. In the lowest rows, the lack of elevation may make it a little difficult to see the other side of the field, but the close proximity to the action makes these seats still very desirable.
Sections AA and BB in this location are designated student sections, so they are likely to be very loud and rowdy throughout the whole game.
If you're sensitive to sun, avoid corner Sections MM and NN which will be blinded during late afternoon games in the fall.
Lower Level Endzone Seating
Endzone seating in the lower level is bench style (no chairbacks) with good views of the action in the near endzone. Seeing the other side of the field can be more of a challenge - especially in the lower rows. Split the difference and sit in a middle row off-center for the best views and to avoid being behind the goalposts.
The sections behind the south endzone, S1-S8, are designated student sections and have a reputation for being loud and extremely passionate.
Lower Level Sideline Seating
Running along both sidelines on the lowest level of the field is the Lower Level Sideline seating location. These seats are some of the closest to the action right behind the players on the sideline. These are some of the most expensive tickets found in Bryant-Denny Stadium due to their prime location.
Sections CC, DD, and EE behind the visitors sideline in this location are designated student sections, meaning that they will be lounder and a little more rowdy than the average sections.
Sections F-H have the only chairback seating in the lower sideline, and it is only available in rows 13 and higher (known as the Scholarship club on the Alabama seating chart).
Sections in this location are very large with 60 numbered rows of seats in each, but the concourse tunnel is about halfway up each section, which limits the number of stairs you'll have to climb.
Upper Level Endzone Seating
The cheapest tickets for Alabama football are more often than not found at the top of the north and south upper level endzone sections. Although these seats offer less-desirable views than sideline or corner seating, the fans who sit here are considered diehard and are enjoying every moment of a fall Saturday at Bryant-Denny. A limited number of seats in Sections SS2-SS5 are typically reserved for Alabama students, which only adds to the atmosphere on that side of the field.
On both sides of the field you'll find bench-style seating and roughly 35 rows in each section. For the best value, choose seats in the first 12 rows on the southwest side of the field. These seats are close to the section entrance and will have the sun set behind them. Sections SS9-SS12 give you a videogame-like view, while SS13 and SS14 offer a unique corner perspective.
Upper Level Side Seating
Side seating on the upper level is comprised of both U3 sections behind the Alabama sideline and U4 sections behind the visitor sideline. Both of these types of sections are the top of their side of the field and have similar sightlines.
Although the views are similar, U3 tickets command a much higher premium than U4 seats. The U3 side features chairback seating in every row, while the U4 side seats are all bench style. Additionally, the U3 sections are the first in the stadium to get shade when the sun begins setting.
Almost every section in this seating zone is made up of 30 numbered rows. If you want to be covered by the roof and don't mind walking a bunch of stairs, choose Rows 20 and above on either side of the field. But if you'd prefer quicker trips for concessions and restrooms, stick with rows 10 and below. Not only will these sections give you a view similar to premium seating, you'll be just a few steps away from the concourse tunnel.
Best Seats for Great Views of the Field
Best Views on the Lower Level
For fans who want to combine a great view with proximity to the field, sections E-J and EE-JJ are the preferred choice. These sections are located between the 20-yardlines and all seats are within 60 rows of the field.
While sitting in the lower level at Bryant-Denny Stadium would be a bucket list experience for most, there are some rows that we recommend over others. If you're after the best possible view, we like rows 25-29 and 40-55.
The first set of rows is just below the entrance tunnel, so you have easy access to your seats without the major distraction of fans coming out of the tunnel. Because it can be difficult to see over players on the sideline, we don't recommend sitting below row 25 unless your goal is to be as close to the field as possible.
Sitting in the higher recommended rows will make your experience even more comfortable. The added elevation of these seats makes it easy to see side-to-side in a single glance and also makes it easier to see the corner videoboards.
When looking at tickets in these sections, you may notice that seats in E-J are often more expensive than seats in EE-JJ. While views will be identical on either side, there are two key differences. First, sections EE-JJ are on the sunny side of the field. Especially during early-season games this area can get very hot. Second, most seats in sections F-H are chairback. This added comfort level generally comes at a premium.
For the best value in the lower level, consider corner sections directly below the videoboards (S8, A, N, N1, etc.). Specifically, we love rows 40-55 in these sections for their elevated views of the field and their head-on views of the videboard. If you're looking for a comfortable view, a lower level seat and a decent price, these seats usually check all three boxes.
Best Elevated Views
Moving up to the second level of the stadium you will find Box seats on the west side and U1 sections on the east side. While these seats don't quite have the rambunctious atmosphere of lower level or upper deck sections, they earn incredibly high marks for offering a comfortable view.
We highly recommend sections U1FF-U1KK where you'll be seated between the 25-yardlines and will be perched just above the lower level. These seats give you a view similar to what you see on TV and aren't nearly as high up as upper deck seats.
Choose a Low Row in the Upper Deck
With space for more than 100,000 fans, it's not surprising that the top level of seating at Bryant-Denny Stadium is pretty high up there. Because of this, we recommend choosing the lowest possible row for the best experience.
Our favorite seats are in rows 1-4 of sections U3E-U3M and U4FF-U4LL. These are the first four rows in each section, and they are night-and-day better than the last four rows (27-30). From the lower rows you won't have to deal with the steepness of the stairs and have the feeling that you're looking straight down on the field.
Seat backs are available for rent from customer service locations at Bryant-Denny Stadium on gameday. The rentals often sell out so fans are encouraged to arrive early to secure a rental.
Seat back rentals can be found at cusomter service areas near:
Upper concourse U4CC/U4DD
Upper concourse U4HH/U4JJ
Gate 6 (NW entrance)
Gate 14 (West entrance)
Gate 35 (East entrance)
Use the stadium Seating Guide to find tickets with traditional stadium-style chairback seats.
Does level U1 on the East side of the stadium have red seats with chairbacks?
With the exception of Skybox seats, all sections on the east side of Bryant-Denny Stadium are bench-style and are not red chairback seats.
On the west side of the field, U1 seats are fully covered, shaded and are red chairbacks.
