RYS Expert Reviews

Sideline

(2026 Review) - Prime Sideline Views: Located along both sidelines of the single-tier bowl, offering the best sightlines to both ends of the field.  Sections Included: East sideline (Sections 1-4, 42-44) and west sideline (Sections 20-26).  Chairback Seating: A rare feature at this stadium, available in Rows 85 and higher in Sections 22-24, plus half of Rows 85+ in Sections 21 and 25.  Student Sections: Sections 25 and 26 are mostly student seating — expect a louder, more energetic atmosphere.  Big Rows: Each section runs up to 98 rows deep, so seat location within a section matters.  Who Should Sit Here  The Sideline zone at Michigan Stadium is the spot for fans who want the classic, sought-after sideline viewing angle and the best overall views of the game. It suits anyone who values seeing the full field over end-zone proximity. Students and fans wanting a high-energy environment should look to Sections 25 and 26.  Sideline Seating Details  The Sideline sections make up the majority of seating in the stadium's large single-tier bowl. The east sideline covers Sections 1-4 and 42-44, while the west sideline covers Sections 20-26. Seating starts with Rows A-B at the front, followed by numbered rows behind, with up to 98 rows in each section. On the east sideline, entry tunnels are located at Rows 56 and 74; the west sideline has tunnels only at Row 72.  Views from the Sideline  Thanks to the sideline viewing angle, fans get great views to both ends of the field — the reason these are considered the best seats for a Michigan football game. Because the bowl is a single continuous tier with up to 98 rows, your row determines how much elevation and distance you have from the action.  What's Available  Chairback Seating (West Sideline): A rare amenity here — available in Rows 85 and higher in Sections 22-24, and in half of Rows 85 and higher in Sections 21 and 25. Most other seating in the bowl is bench-style.  Good to Know  If you want a chairback seat rather than a bench, target the upper rows (85+) of the west sideline Sections 22-24. If you're after the rowdiest, loudest experience, head for the student-heavy Sections 25 and 26.
