What seats are shaded/covered at George Steinbrenner Field?
Asked February 18, 2025
At George Steinbrenner Field, the amount of shade varies depending on the time of day and where you sit. There are plenty of shaded options around the ballpark.
Loge Boxes (First and Third Base Sides) – Best for Early Day Shade
These premium seats are covered by narrow roofs, making them the only reliably shaded areas for early afternoon games (1:00 PM to 2:00 PM). An ideal choice if you want protection from the sun from the start of the game.
Behind Home Plate (Sections 208-214) – Best for Afternoon Shade
Starting around 2:00 PM, the sun shifts behind home plate, providing increasing shade to Sections 208-214. For maximum protection, choose seats in the back half of these sections, where the suites and press box block direct sunlight.
Third Base Line (Sections 215-218) – Increasing Shade as the Game Progresses
The third base side is the "shade side" of the ballpark. As the afternoon progresses, shade extends down the third base line, making these sections a good option after the first few innings.
Areas to Avoid for Shade:
First Base Line and Outfield
These areas face the sun directly and remain in full sunlight for most of the game, especially during early and mid-afternoon.
