Student section (GA 17)
Doesn't get any better than the Cameron Crazies section, which is General Admission (no assigned or reserved seats, first come first served). Paid face value, so not cheap, and to get close to the floor, you have to line up even before the gate opens (which is 90 minutes before tipoff). It helped that the game was Sunday, last day of Thanksgiving break, so most students were not back yet.
Students get priority seating - the central portion of Section 17. Line monitors then let the hoi polloi enter that area. Awesome event (even though Duke was playing the undefeated but outclassed Utah State Aggies). Let's go Duke!
Amazing experience sitting here for a game, but know what to expect!
Sitting in section 17 at Cameron Indoor is amazing. Be prepared for a loud student section and to stand the whole game if this is a men's game!
Just be aware that it's nearly impossible to move within this section, especially during the game. The aisles are non existent, and the bleachers are tiny. Also, since it's GA, you'll have to get there early to save your spot.
However, if you're looking for the authentic Duke experience, you can't NOT recommend sitting on the lower level in section 17. Just know what to expect - it'll be crowded, loud, and you'll be standing for all 40 minutes.
Seating and Ticket Q&A
Is Section 17, Cameron Crazies section, open to the general public?
The Cameron Crazies section for a Duke game is open to all patrons. Especially during holiday breaks, the section is often filled with non-students.
If you do plan on buying a ticket for the section, bear in mind that you will be expected to stand during the duration of the game and that the atmosphere is much rowdier than in the rest of the arena.
