Where should I sit if it rains at the U.S. Open (tennis)?

Anywhere! Arthur Ashe and Louis Armstrong both have retractable roofs — if it rains, the roof closes and you stay dry. Only the Grandstand and outer courts get rained out. rnThe real question is sun, not rain. rnHere's what nobody tells you: the roof over Ashe creates weird shade patterns all day long. With the roof open, the huge structure works like a sundial — one side of the stadium bakes while the other sits in shade, and the shade line moves across the bowl as the day goes on. Seats roasting at 1pm can be shaded by 4pm. rnThe cheat code: upper promenade seats sit under the permanent roof overhang and stay shaded basically all day. The cheapest ticket in the building is also the most comfortable one on a 90-degree afternoon. rnNight sessions? None of this matters. Every seat is fine.
