Shaded Seats When the Roof Is Open at American Family Field (Miller Park)

If you're attending a day game at American Family Field in the summer months you won't have to worry about rain, but you may have to worry about the sun. The Brewers will close the retractable roof when the weather is wet or cold, but not when it is hot.

Here are a few tips that will help you stay cool and out of direct sun:

Sit on the First Base Side

Without question, the first base side of American Family Field can be considered the shaded side

The first base side of American Family Field receives shade long before seats on the third base side. Even when the roof is open,  all seats on this side will be mostly shaded for 1 p.m. games in the summer.

Consider Upper Deck Sections 423-436

The roof keeps upper deck sections on the third base side under cover and shaded

While upper deck sections on the first base side (404-420) will be fully shaded, so will a number of sections on the opposite side of the upper deck. The retractable roofline hangs over these seats and keeps them comfortable.

Avoid Right Field Seats

The sunniest seats for a Brewers game are in right field

The following sections will remain in the sun the longest. If you're looking to soak up the sun, purchase a seat here. Otherwise, avoid these at all costs!

  • Sections 127-131
  • Sections 230-238
  • Sections 437-442
