Best Seats For a Concert at NRG Stadium

The most common seating layout at NRG Stadium for concerts is an end-stage setup with the stage located near sections Section 111, Section 112 and Section 113. For many concerts there are also slight variations to the layout, which may include General Admission seats, fan pits and B-stages.

view from NRG Stadium Field seats
Field seats - like those in Field A2 - are among the most sought-after tickets

On the Field: Sections Field A1, Field A2, Field A3 and Field A4 are Field Seats, which offer some of the closest views of the performers. For many concerts, field sections are added or removed. These performer-specific adjustments may alter the field layout and the views from each field section.

To the Side of the Stage: For close views of the stage with a little bit of elevation, consider seats to the side of the stage in Section 107, Section 108 and Section 125. The view is not head-on like on the field, but many of the seats are closer to the stage, provide better elevation and are actual stadium seats.

Section 648 offers a comfortable head-on view for end-stage shows

Head-on to the Stage: Seats directly across from the stage, like those in Section 135, Section 136, Section 137 and Section 138 provide the most comfortable looks of the performance.

Even upper level sections offer unobstructed sitelines. Just keep in mind that you won't be able to see as much detail from these seats as you would if you sat closer to the stage.

Consider the Following When Buying Concert Tickets

Seats behind the stage are occassionally sold: Unless your main objective is to just get in the building, you'll want to completely avoid anything behind the stage - like those in/near or above sections Section 111, Section 112, Section 113 and Section 114. It's unlikely the performer will turn around to salute you - and you're more likely to be completely blocked out from seeing the show.

If you're on the shorter side (or bringing kids), consider field seats only in the first few rows: The most common complaint amongst field ticketholders is that they can't see the stage because of taller people in front of them. As an alternative, consider side sections near the stage that will still have you close and high enough to see.

Lower level side sections are not created equal: While the side sections closest to the stage are top-notch, side sections farther from the stage may leave you with a cramp in your neck. Sections 103 and 130 are not well-angled towards the stage - leaving you to turn your head for an ideal view. Instead, consider head-on sections in the lower level or even close side seats in the upper level like 610 and 633.

    Venue & Seating Questions

    • Is there an elevator to the 700 level seats in NRG Stadium?

The NRG Stadium elevators do run to the 700 level of the stadium, and are actually the only way to access this level (no stair or escalator access). It is important to note that they do not allow alcoholic beverage on the elevators.

    • What is the highest level that the VIP elevators to to?

The VIP elevators run all the way to the 800 level for Upper Halo Suite ticket holders. The VIP elevators stop at all levels but require VIP ticket holder status to ride (granted to Suite and Club seat patrons).

    • Do Verizon Club seats include parking?

Unless specifically noted by the seller that a parking pass is included, Verizon Club Level seats unfortunately do not include parking.

    • Do the rows at NRG Stadium go up from the field?

The rows at NRG Stadium ascend up from the field. For example, the row closest to the field in Section 101 is Row A. Similarly, double-letter rows (like AA) begin after single-letter rows (like Z) and ascend up from the field.

NRG Stadium rows run A-Z from the field, then AA-ZZ
    • Where is the east sideline at NRG Stadium?

The East sideline runs between Sections 122 to 131 on the 100 level, with Sections 125 through 128 being closest to the player bench and midfield on the east side of the field.

    • Are there any obstructed view seats or sections to be avoided for a Texans game?

NRG Stadium does not have any seating areas which have limited view for Texans games, however we would recommend trying to avoid seats near the aisles in Rows E and higher in the 600 level sections if possible. These seats are just above the entry tunnels, where the view can be impacted by heavy foot traffic from fans walking between the concourse and their seats in the higher rows.

    • Can you see the videoboards from the lower level?

The video boards at NRG Stadium span the entire length of the endzone, making them
some of the largest in the NFL. However, their placement at the absolute
      top
of the stadium renders them perhaps the worst video boards in the
      league.

For fans paying big bucks to sit along the sidelines, seeing
the video screens requires a complete head-turn. While this is not
uncommon, fans sitting in the lower level than have to peer up far more than 100 feet to get
a clear view of replays and stats. Even if you are seated in one of the
highest rows of the stadium, chances are you will be looking up a fair
      amount all afternoon.

    • How does the 500 level compare to the 600 level at a Texans game?

On NRG Stadium seating charts, the 600 level appears to be directly above the 500
level. While this is true, there are significant differences between
sections numbered in the 500s and 600s.

Showing 300-600 levels a NRG Stadium (100 level not pictured)

Distance From the Field and Concourse

Naturally, the 600 level sections are farther away from the field because they are higher up. But it's worth noting that because these sections are not a simple extension of the 500 level, they are pushed farther back away from the stage. In other words, there is a significant difference between the last row in the 500s (usually Row M) and the first row in the 600s (usually A).

      600 level stairs
Reaching the 600 level requires additional stairs compared to the 500 level

Another item worth considering is the number of additional stairs it takes to reach the 600 level. While the 500 level is located just off the concourse, you must climb
at least 15 stairs to reach the first row of the 600s. While this may not turn off
fans seated in one of lower rows (A, B, etc.), it's worthy of
consideration for ticketholders who may have to climb another 15-30
stairs to reach a higher row. For fans who head to the concession stands and restrooms frequently, a ticket in the 500s will severely cut down on your time away from the game.

      Ticket Prices

Tickets in 600 level sections are typically priced 15-30% cheaper than similarly-numbered sections in the 500 level. Given their superior views and convenience, the jump in ticket price is justified. Rows A-F in sideline sections of the 600 level usually offer good value. But if you can't find tickets there, we recommend paying a few extra bucks to claim a spot on the 500 level.

    • Where are the club seats for the Houston Rodeo at NRG Stadium?

Club seating is located on the sides of the 300 level at NRG Stadium for the Houston Livestock and Rodeo show. All Club level sections (301-318 and 329-346) offer access to the Star Bar, Horseshoe Bar, Spur Bar, and Football Bar. Upscale food and beverage is available in all Club Level Sections.

Club seating for the Houston Livestock and Rodeo Show at NRG Stadium
Club seating is located along the sides of NRG Stadium on the third tier of seating up from the floor
    • What are the best lower level seats at NRG Stadium?

Most lower level sections at NRG Stadium are accurately priced in that you get what you pay for. Unlike a lot of older stadiums where seats inside the 20 have a terrible angle towards most of the field - even the lower rows of these sections will have semi-comfortable views to a majority of the action. As a result, choosing seats in these locations is generally a matter of budget and balancing your preference for convenience, experience or outstanding view.

      Best Seats for Convenience

From a convenience standpoint, the last row in every section 101-140 is located at the level of the concourse. In most rows, this row is labeled JJ. Exceptions include accessible seating sections where the last row of common seating is FF and a wheelchair accessible landing replaces rows GG-JJ. To feel as if you're not "walking a mile" up and down the stairs, first consider all double-letter rows (AA-JJ).

      Enjoying a Memorable Experience

If you're most interested in an unbelievable experience, you may prefer the lowest row possible. Just keep in mind that every seat in rows A-J of sections 102-111 and 122-131 will deal with some level of obstruction by the players on the sideline.

The Texans sit on the west sideline, making these an obvious first choice among Houston fans. For a less expensive gameday experience, consider sections 112-113 near the Texans tunnel (or 132-133 if you're a visiting fan). From there you'll have unprecedented views of the players as they run on and off the field before the game, during introductions, at halftime and at the end of the game.

      texans field seats
Field Seats are a top choice for a once-in-a-lifetime experience

If budget is not a concern, the Field Seats offer fans an opportunity to sit directly at field level. This experience comes with additional perks, including standing on the field before the game and exclusive amenities. However, with the players and sideline staff so close, it will be impossible to see much of the game.

      endzone seats nrg stadium
The first ten rows behind the goalposts are as close to the field as you can get

Another popular spot among experience-seekers are the first 10 rows behind the goalposts. While the posts occasionally get in the way, these are the absolute closest seats to the field and offer a video-game-like view. Just keep in mind that fans in these sections stand for a majority of Texans games.

      Getting the Best View

Finally, for the purist football fan who simply wants to watch the game and have the best overall view, there are two considerations. First, the obvious choice is sitting at midfield. When seeking out the best views, look no further than rows S-Z and AA-EE. These seats are 20-30 rows from the field, aren't under the overhang and are an ideal alternative to the often-more-expensive lower rows. For an even cheaper option, do consider double-letter rows in all lower corner sections. Comfortable elevated sitelines and some of the lowest price tags in the lower level make these some of the most under-rated seats in the stadium.

      sections 125-128, rows aa-jj
Elevated rows in sections 125-128 are among the best overall seats at NRG Stadium

Altogether, the best combination of convenience, view and affordability at NRG Stadium is in sections 104-109 and 124-129. Specifically, double-letter rows (AA-JJ) in these sections are our top pick for the best all-around seats in the lower level.
