Published Sep 20, 2023 / by Ryan Kozlowski

Are you a passionate football fan who's also a devoted mom? We understand the thrill of cheering for your favorite team, but we also know that being a mom means you have responsibilities that go beyond the game. Finding a comfortable and private space to nurse your baby or attend to your little one's needs should be a stress-free experience.

In this blog, we'll dive into the world of football stadium nursing rooms and sensory kits, explore where to find them, what amenities they offer, and how they can enhance your game day experience. Whether you're a die-hard football fanatic or a casual observer, this guide will show you how these facilities are revolutionizing the way families enjoy the game, one touchdown at a time.

Football Stadium Nursing Rooms

Professional football teams have created dedicated nursing rooms within their stadiums. Since the Minnesota Vikings implemented this idea in 2015, almost every team has followed suit, providing private spaces for mothers and families attending games. In these dedicated rooms, mothers can expect a quiet, secluded space to take care of their nursing needs.

The Mamava Pod

A number of teams have partnered with Mamava which designs lactation pods for breastfeeding mothers on the go. The Mamava pod is a self-contained, mobile pod and features comfortable seating, a fold-down table, interior lighting, an electrical outlet for a breast pump, a USB port and a lockable door. The four-by-eight-foot pod is designed for individual use but can fit more than one person.

Sensory Inclusive Stadiums

Over the years, professional football teams have also put an emphasis on creating a more inviting experience for individuals with sensory issues. Adding resources for such individuals creates a more inclusive stadium environment for all fans.

What is a sensory room?

A sensory room is a therapeutic room designed to develop an individual's sense, usually through special lighting, music, and objects. These soundproof rooms offer a space for individuals with sensory overload to calm down and take a step away from the elements of a large crowd.

Sensory Kits

Many teams across the league are becoming sensory-inclusive-certified by offering sensory kits. Oftentimes these kits include headphones, fidget tools, verbal cue cards and weighted lap pads. These objects can potentially help reduce anxiety, frustration, and help individuals escape the overwhelmingness of a large crowd or venue.
