In sections 1-19 of the west stands, fans will find covered seating in the last few rows of seats. This photo from Section 1 shows cover beginning around Row 79.
Most chairback seats in sections A-H are also under cover. This photo from Section H shows that the first row of stadium chairs is only partially covered.
Only about 15% of all seats at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium offer some type of shade or cover. Below is a sample of seats that are at least partially covered or shaded at different times of the day. To search for tickets or to find out if your seats are protected from the sun or rain, follow the link for the seat finder.
While endzone seating may not seem like the most ideal place to watch football from, these seats are some of the most comfortable ares to sit in the lower level.
On the South side of the field are the only lettered sections in the stadium and on the North side are sections 18-28. Each of these sections features comforts not found anywhere else nearby. An overhang on each side of the field covers the back portions of the sections, providing them cover and quite a bit of shade. In addition to the cover, these seats also feature chairbacks in many of the upper rows.
For the most comfortable seating, choose rows 22 and above on the North side and rows 30-39 on the South side.
Lower Level Sideline Seating
The best seats at the Swamp for seeing the action on the field are found along the sidelines in the lower level. These large sections each feature 50 rows of seating with the entrance tunnels located near Row 32. Sitting near this row makes for easy exits to restrooms and concessions, while also providing an ideal amount of elevation for seeing the game.
Seats closer to the field in Rows 10 and below are very low to the field. This gives you a vantage point that only coaches and players ever get to experience. But it may also be difficult to see each side of the field with the aforementioned coaches and players in your way.
The Florida sideline sits along sections 2-16 on the less sunny side of the field. The sun will set behind these sections in the late afternoon, providing some relief from bright light - and eventually shade. On the sunny side of the field you'll find Gators students occupying sections 30-44.
Upper Level Corner Seating
The Upper Level Corner seating location receives elevated views of the action and good sitelines towards midfield. If you choose seats in Sections 1, 3, 17 or 19, you'll have the benefit of being in the shaded in the early afternoon. And if you're in the last ten rows of those sections, you'll also be covered in the case of rain.
Select portions of sections 43-51 are designated for visitor seating, so these areas are likely to have a lot of opposing fans.
Each section has 39-45 numbered rows. In sections 1, 3, 43 and 45, these rows begin directly after the lower level. But in Sections 47-51 and 61-65 the first 12 rows are on their own seating deck and all seats feature chairs with backs.
Upper Level Endzone Seating
Behind the south endzone on the highest level of seating is the Upper Level Endzone seating location. These are some of the largest sections in the stadium with 44 numbered rows.
These sections are very unique because the rows start with row 1, but then after row 12, they jump to row 59. Then the numbers proceed from row 59 all the way to row 90. And in those first 12 rows fans will be happy to find chairback seating and easy access to the concourse tunnel.
Upper Level Sideline Seating
For those not afraid of a little bit of elevation, sideline seating on the upper level provides very good views of the field. With roughly 40 rows of seats beginning with Row 50, row placement is the key. You'll want to be in Rows 50-60, as the views begin to deteriorate as you get much higher - and you'll also have a longer walk to the section tunnel.
If you're not able to secure tickets in one of the lower rows, you'll still find some benefit to sitting in a higher row if you choose seats on the west side. In odd Sections 5-15 the roof will cover rows 79 and higher. This means that roughly the last 10 rows will be covered. But with additional seating and suites located above, the entire west side will be shaded well before east sections 31-41.
Best Seats for Great Views of the Field
Ben Hill Griffin Stadium is one of the most unique venues in college football. From its colorful nickname to its colorful walls, The Swamp is a place unlike any other. Its intimidating presence is furthered by the way the way the stadium was built. Fans at BGHS are seated right on top of the field; this keeps the noise level high and makes for some excellent seating options.
Best Sideline Views
While much of the stadium differentiates itself from the standard college football venue, sideline seating does not. Each sideline contains 90 rows of bleacher seats that are separated into lower and upper sections. Given the straight-forward nature of sideline seating, the best views will come from seats located closest to the 50-yardline.
The best seats for being close to the field and maintaining an unobstructed view will come in rows 24-31 of sections between the 20 yardlines (even-numbered sections 6-12 and 34-40). These rows have enough elevation to see over the players on the sideline, and they are just below the section entrance tunnel. Many would consider these the absolute best seats at at Florida Gators game.
If the rows described above are unavailable or out of your price range, consider seats in a higher row of the west sideline. While comparable seats are available in the east stands, the west sideline is the less-sunny side of the field. On a bright day you won't have to worry about glare or over-heating. Our favorite seats in the upper sections include rows 40-58 in sections 5, 7, 13 and 15 and rows 60+ in sections 9 and 11. These spots are great for beating the heat and getting a comfortable, elevated view of the game.
Best Corner and Endzone Seating
While sideline seating is run-of-the-mill, The Swamp's most intriguing seating options are located in the upper levels of the north and south endzones. These sections have the best views of the videoboards, they hang over the lower level, and they have the highest concentration of chairback seating.
One of our top picks for getting a great deal comes from sections 59, 61 and 63. The first ten rows in these sections provide tremendous value for a variety of reasons. The seats themselves are chairback, the sun sets behind these sections and the north videoboard is easily viewed. But what makes these seats even better are the sitelines. These sections are wonderfully angled towards midfield so you can take in the game in a single glance. The sections also hang over the sections below, making you feel like you're sitting on top of the field instead of pushed far away.
Among sections in the north endzone, the Touchdown Terrace seats (200s) are highly lauded for their status as club seats. In addition to special perks and amenities, these seats also hang over the lower level and keep you engaged in the action. We like sections 218 and 220 the best, as they'll do a good job of keeping you out of the sun and provide sitelines that aren't disrupted by the goalposts.
Another area of the stadium where we find tremendous value is in the first ten rows of sections 322-325. While it can be difficult (i.e.: impossible) to see the endzone from the upper rows in these sections, the lower rows are simply awesome. You'll be close to the entrance tunnel, you'll be seated on a stadium-style chair with a back and armrests, and you'll have the best views of the stadium's bigger videoboards. The first ten rows in these sections are often priced $20-$50 higher than the upper rows - but the cost difference is well worth it. (Just keep in mind that these sections get very sunny!)
