Memorial Gymnasium

"Great Height, Bad Overhang"

Seat Review From Section 2J, Row 13, Seats 15-16

This was my first time at Memorial Gym, and I wish I would have done a little more legwork before jumping on the cheapest tickets.

The second level is at the absolute perfect height for watching basketball. The first few rows of these are far superior to the first level seats below them. Unfortunately, I didn't realize how severe the overhangs are. If you're seated in the back half of the section (row 8+), you end up with a tunneled view of the game. The higher you are, the worse it gets. In row 13, you can see the court clearly, but none of the videoboard and only about 20% of the rest of the gym.

Besides for not knowing about the overhang, I didn't realize all of the seats on the west side of the gym are benches without backs. It's not a 3+ hour football game, but after a while it does get a little uncomfortable.

One benefit of sitting here as an away fan is that there are a lot of visitor fans in these sections. I think Vanderbilt primarily releases these to the public, so they often get snatched up by visiting fans.

Overall, loved the charm and character of the gym, just would have liked some of the modern comforts of the East end and the better views of the lower rows.

Best for... fans on a budget, fans of the oppposing team
