Obstructed View but not too bad

    Nov 2019

Orchestra Left, Row D, Seat 15

    ★★★★★

I purchased this ticket because it was the cheapest ticket in the Orchestra sections. Yes, the cheapest ticket was in the 4th row! However, it was listed as a a limited view/obstructed ticket. I decided to take a chance, and it was about what I expected. There was a very sharp angle to the stage which made it hard to see what was going on in the back part of the stage. At times it was really frustrating and at other times it was amazing to be so close to the performers.

    Beautiful theater

There are five Orchestra sections at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta. Each section has roughly 45 rows of seats with Row A closest to the stage and double-letter rows following Row Z. Generally speaking, views from the orchestra are very good and reviews of these seats are positive. There are three exceptions to be aware of when purchasing tickets. First, the balcony hangs over the orchestra at Row O. Views from rows O-Y are unaffected - you hardly notice the balcony. But views in rows Z and AA-RR are slightly obstructed by the overhang. The farther back you are, the less likely you are to see what's happening high above the stage. This isn't an issue for most concerts, but plays with flying theatrics might have problems. Second, some seats in the orchestra are specifically labeled as obstructed or limited view tickets. These are typically found in the front rows of sections Orchestra Left and Right. In these instances, the seats for those tickets are to the far right or far left of the stage. While you are able to see the front of the stage clearly, it can be difficult to see what's happening deeper on the stage. Again, this is usually not an issue for concerts, but seeing the entire stage for a theater production is difficult from these obstructed seats. Finally, some attendees have complained that there is not enough rise in the seats to see over the rows in front of them. This issue affects kids and short people the most. If this is a concern, we recommend the closest row possible or a seat in the balcony.

      (Orchestra Left Center) - ★★★ -

Row RR is the last row in this section. The view wasn't nearly as bad as I expected. This is a nice theater without any poles like I've seen in a lot of other older theaters. The overhang did cut off the top of the stage area, which isn't ideal for a musical, but would probably be OK for a concer...
